“Blue Star Mother” Feb 21 & 22

Two matinee performances of “Blue Star Mother” will be presented at the IRP theatre before the show is taken to the state festival at Okoboji in March. We invite you to come and be a part of the process of getting our show ready for competition! The preview matinees will take place at 2PM on Saturday, February 21 and Sunday, February 22. Tickets are $5 — available at the door. We invite the audience to stay for a “talk back” discussion after the performance.

“Blue Star Mother” was written Iowa River Players’ friend Tom Johnson of Amana, IA. It takes place on a summer day of 1944 on Maggie’s front porch. The characters are based on some “amazing people” that Johnson knew as a boy in northwest Iowa. According to Johnson, “They didn’t actually say this stuff, but they could have.”
